Resolution No. (R)17-08, authorizing and approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Town of Oro Valley and the Town of Marana for the M.O.V.E. Across 2 Ranges hiking challenge event

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this item.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The Town of Oro Valley and Town of Marana parks & recreation departments developed the M.O.V.E. Across 2 Ranges Hiking Challenge in 2012. This event has grown in popularity; therefore, the need for a formal agreement is necessary to further the advancement of its success.

BACKGROUND OR DETAILED INFORMATION:

The Town of Oro Valley and Town of Marana parks & recreation departments developed the M.O.V.E. Across 2 Ranges Hiking Challenge five years ago. The challenge makes use of the Tortolita mountain range in Marana and the Catalina mountain range in Oro Valley. Hikes range from 6 to 22 miles.

This event has grown in popularity with 50 participants at the first hike to over 350 in 2016. The need to formalize the roles and responsibilities of each agency is necessary to further advance the planning, administration, and production of this event.

I MOVE to (approve or deny) Resolution No. (R)17-08, authorizing and approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Town of Oro Valley and the Town of Marana for the M.O.V.E. Across 2 Ranges hiking challenge event as presented.
